may day four

We had a coffee down in Kungsträdgården and watched the demonstration pass by. It felt like an unusually large demonstration this year. Unfortunately the leftwing parties couldn't provide any inspiration. Just nostalgia. I think it's very disturbing when fundamentalist Muslims dressed in burqas, people who support the most extreme, oppressive and brutal religious views, join the demonstration. Most leftist in Sweden seems to view the US as the Big Enemy - and all enemies of the Big Enemy are friends. I totally disagree. The Islamists in Somalia, Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq are fascists. All fascists are bad. It doesn't matter if they are christians, jews, hindus or muslims. The left should always take a firm stand against fascism even when those fascists happen to fight against the US or Israel. I'm definitely not a supporter of US or Israeli foreign policies - but I sure as hell doesn't support any fascists neighter in Israel nor in Palestine nor anywhere else. I don't care who those fascists fight against. The Vietnam war is over and it's 2007 - it's time to reclaim the May Day from these nostalgic zombies.
