This was brilliant television. One of the best and darkest season finales I ever seen. We finally got the truth about Dexter Morgan aka Dexter Moser. And as you can see above - it wasn't something nice and pretty. This episode was almost like a classic Greek drama. Dexter, the adopted son with no past. His abandoned and forgotten brother Brian who had loved his kid brother and taken care of him until the day they both witnessed the ultra brutal murder of their mother. Dexters stepsister Debra. Her relation with Brian Moser aka Rudy aka the Ice Truck Killer. Almost incestious. And this family drama ends very sad and tragic. Dexter has to choose between his siblings - only one of them can stay alive. The end is fantastic. It's sad, moving and brutal. And Dexters fantasy at the very end reminds me of Alex grandiose dreams in his hospital bed in A Clockwork Orange. "I was cured, all right..." Could Dexter be right? Would the common people love a psycho killer avenger who makes sure that justice is done? Unfortunately I think they would. And yes - the John Barry song Born Free played an important part in this episode.
