tekkon kinkurito
On the 23 December the Tekkon Kinkurito movie had it's Japanese premiere. Now I'm desperately waiting for a good fansub copy and/or the DVD. This could be brilliant. The manga, made by Taiyo Matsumoto, is among the best comic books ever made. Now Studio 4°C has made a movie based on the manga. Studio 4°C made the excellent "Beyond" episode in Animatrix. Hope this turns out just as good.

magazine
Magazine _ Permafrost
This must be one of the darkest and most threatening rock songs ever. It's both brilliant and frightening. What kind of person writes lyrics like:
"As the day stops dead, at the place where we're lost;
I will drug you and fuck you, on the permafrost."
Magazine _ Motorcade
The sound is bad - but look at Howard Devoto! He's so scary! Like a weird hybrid between H.R Gigers Alien monster and Christopher Walken.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! Especially you Anna - have a great holiday in Kata.
dj influenza vs linda
I don't always look this weird. I blame it on the influenza virus in my body. It sucks! But after a couple of beers me and Linda totally rocked!
stkhlm - south
I'm ran towards Söder in a desperate search for christmas presents. But I took a short break here. I like this view. That old building on the mountain almost look like a castle.

dexter - born free
Spoiler Warning!!!!
This was brilliant television. One of the best and darkest season finales I ever seen. We finally got the truth about Dexter Morgan aka Dexter Moser. And as you can see above - it wasn't something nice and pretty. This episode was almost like a classic Greek drama. Dexter, the adopted son with no past. His abandoned and forgotten brother Brian who had loved his kid brother and taken care of him until the day they both witnessed the ultra brutal murder of their mother. Dexters stepsister Debra. Her relation with Brian Moser aka Rudy aka the Ice Truck Killer. Almost incestious. And this family drama ends very sad and tragic. Dexter has to choose between his siblings - only one of them can stay alive. The end is fantastic. It's sad, moving and brutal. And Dexters fantasy at the very end reminds me of Alex grandiose dreams in his hospital bed in A Clockwork Orange. "I was cured, all right..." Could Dexter be right? Would the common people love a psycho killer avenger who makes sure that justice is done? Unfortunately I think they would. And yes - the John Barry song Born Free played an important part in this episode.
lucifer rising
Since the complete works of Kenneth Anger haven't been released on DVD yet. Why not use youtube for something more than watching Chad Vader and old music videos. You have all of Kenneth Angers movies there. Worth taking a look. Then buy Bobby Beausoleil's brilliant soundtrack to Lucifer Rising. It's the best Pink Floyd album never made.
country dusk
This is somewhere around three in the afternoon and the sun is gone. Totally depressing.
country noon
This is noon. Took a couple of more pictures of my favourite reeds outside my cottage. Frost just makes things look better.

dexter - truth be told
Not as good as the last episode. But still a great episode. Rudy/The Ice Truck Killer has a really disturbing way of celebrating christmas. Dexters flashbacks of the brutal chainsaw murder of his mother are getting more frequent and detailed. His mind is drifting away when he needs to focus on his job. But he gets his act together and manage to find out who the Ice Truck Killer is. Dexters sister Debra is totally blinded by love. Her boyfriend has PSYCHOKILLER written all over his forehead and she (and her psychokiller brother!) can't see it! And she's a police detective! Too bad for her. All relationships in this series seems to be at best dysfunctional and at worst lethal. There are only two kinds of people - the really disturbed ones like Dexter and Rudy who desperately tries to blend in and be super nice and normal. Almost boring. Then you have the desperate and insecure ones like Debra and Angel. Always searching. Always falling madly in love and then getting jealous, scorned or burned. Always testing their partners patience. It seems like living as a single is the safest alternative if you want to stay alive or just staying sane. It's so sad!

underground two
Behind those dirty windows there's a restaurant. Incredible - don't you think? It's like an East German weat dream.
underground one
The music in my phone works perfectly in a creative and beautiful environment like this. It really becomes a soundtrack.
midlake - roscoe
Here's the Midlake "Roscoe" video. It's a song Crosby, Stills & Nash could have killed for. Sounds a lot like early Neil Young, especially that electric piano (or what is that?)... it plays like a slow melancholic Neil Young guitar solo... brilliant! Back to the country now folks.
saturday at snottys
DJ Sonny played at Snottys yesterday. Played some great songs by Essex Green and Midlake. Midlake seems to be a new Snottys favourite. Especially the song Roscoe from their latest album The Trials of Van Occupanther. I must say that I was impressed by the DJ presentations they've made at Snottys. That's art!
dark lights
This is a new version of the lights up at the basketball field at the international school in Fiskis. I like them. Kind of mystical.

The Knife "Pass This On"
This must be one of the greatest swedish music videos ever. That small town weirdness. It's almost scary. It's also one of my favourite songs on the commuter train and at home the last week. Here's the list in no specific order:
Do Not Break - Ellen Allien & Apparat
Take Me into your skin - Trentemøller
Pass This On - The Knife
High School/Jamaican Box - Tiga
Atlantis To Interzone (Crystal Castles Remix) - Klaxons
Always Something Better - Trentemøller
1976 - RJD2
Serenade - Midaircondo
Turbo Dreams - Ellen Allien & Apparat
Beau Mot Plage - Isolee
For Your Pleasure - Roxy Music
Louder Than A Bomb - Tiga
Into The Light - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Gravity's Rainbow (Van She Remix) - Klaxons
F.H.H. (Feat. Jakki Da Motamouth) - RJD2
Miss You - Trentemøller
There's darkness outside...
heroes - the season finale
Ouch! This show is so damn good! I really love it. Just as I once loved Twin Peaks and Riget. Mutants are a more or less unexplored theme for a TV drama (I wonder why?) and here it works perfectly, at least most of the time. This last episode was great. One of the best this season. Unfortunatley, as the preview said: "A hero will be lost." And that hero seems to be one of my favourites, Eden. I liked her smooth "Bene Gesserit" voice. I hope "lost" isn't the same thing as "dead and no longer a part of the show". Instead another great character, The Haitian, takes a huge step forward in this episode. I like that move. He's too cool to just use in the background. If you ever liked dark and fantastic tales - then do yourself a favour and watch this show.

dexter - the blood episode
I've just watched episodes 9 and 10 of Dexter and this psycho killer cop is really starting to haunt me. Episode 10 had almost as much blood in it as the famous elevator scene in The Shining. The Ice Truck Killer is slowly infiltrating Dexters life and mind. He's so totally creepy. And Michael C Hall is absolutely perfect as Dexter. He looks a lot like a young Malcolm McDowell. This is weird and fascinating stuff.

psycho killers & superheroes
It's dark and cold outside so I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop watching TV. Both Lost, Weeds and Veronica Mars have had their season finales and won't be back until january. But Dexter and Heroes are still on! Dexter is yet another take on these super smart psycho killers that still plagues our TV:s and cinemas. But Dexter is a bit better and definitely funnier than your average psycho killer. This is a crime solving and friendly neighbour psycho killer from Miami! So it's kind of a mix of Manhunter, American Psycho, Miami Vice and the dark humour of Fight Club. You may be surprised but it actually works quite well.
But my big TV favourite so far this autumn is Heroes. This is a TV series about ordinary people who find out that they aren't so ordinary. They are mutants! Just like the X-men. But this is before they get organized and starts to wear funny suits. They are still not sure what to do with their powers. My favourite american comic book writer Jeph Loeb and the brilliant comic book artist Tim Sale are both involved in Heroes. Maybe that's one reason why it's so good. If you enjoyed movies like X2 and V for Vendetta I'm sure you will enjoy this series too.
