californication - the whore of babylon
I have to admit that I actually like Californication. It's the thinking dirty old bastards sitcom of choice right now. David Duchovny is back in good form. The last time I enjoyed him this much was when he played Denise/Dennis Bryson in Twin Peaks. But the biggest surprise must be Madeline Zima. She's perfect as Mia. It's hard to understand that she played Grace Sheffield in The Nanny. The dog above is Yusuf Islam. You get the joke when you watch the show. I wonder if females also can enjoy this show or if it's a males only show. If you're a lady and have seen the show please feel free to inform me.

californication
Californicatio isn't just a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. Californication also is a brand new Showtime TV series. I've just watched the first two episodes and they were actually quite good. Especially the scene above. Throwing up on other peoples expensive art is always fun! Californication is about Hank Moody (played by Fox Mulder/David Duchovny). Hank is a New York writer living in L.A. He has a serious writer's block and an obsession with sex, drugs, sex, sex and his ex-girlfriend Karen (played by Natascha McElhone). The show has a nice dark humour and the acting is - maybe not perfect - but good enough. I think it has some potential. So far it isn't as good as my two favourite Showtime shows Weeds and Dexter but who knows. I'll definitely continue to check it out.

That Tony Wilson - Granada TV, 2002
Tony Wilson died of a heart attack on 10 August, following complications from kidney cancer. Modern music would not be what it is without him. He created Factory Records and started The Haçienda. He discoverd and promoted great bands like Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio and the Happy Mondays. He should be an inspiration for all the boring and incompetent people you find in the music and entertainment business today. A man who believed in art and making history instead of making money. Those people are very rare nowadays. I'm not even sure they exist anymore.

blade runner: ultimate collectors edition
Oh, sweet Jebus! Look at it! I want it. Now! The Blade Runner: Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition includes:
Disc One
RIDLEY SCOTT'S ALL-NEW "FINAL CUT" VERSION OF THE FILM: Restored and remastered with added & extended scenes, added lines, new and cleaner special effects and all new 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio. Also includes:
Commentary by Ridley Scott
Commentary by Executive Producer/ Co-Screenwriter Hampton Fancher and Co-Screenwriter David Peoples; Producer Michael Deely and production executive Katherine Haber
Commentaries by visual futurist Syd Mead; production designer Lawrence G. Paull, art director David L. Snyder and special photographic effects supervisors Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich and David Dryer.
Disc Two
DOCUMENTARY DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING BLADE RUNNER: A feature-length authoritative documentary revealing all the elements that shaped this hugely influential cinema landmark. Cast, crew, critics and colleagues give a behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at the film -- from its literary roots and inception through casting, production, visuals and special effects to its controversial legacy and place in Hollywood history.
Disc Three
1982 THEATRICAL VERSION: This is the version that introduced U.S. movie-going audiences to a revolutionary film with a new and excitingly provocative vision of the near-future. It contains Deckard/Harrison Ford´s character narration and has Deckard and Rachel´s (Sean Young) "happy ending" escape scene.
1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSION: Also used on U.S. home video, laserdisc and cable releases up to 1992. This version is not rated, and contains some extended action scenes in contrast to the Theatrical Version.
1992 DIRECTOR'S CUT: The Director's Cut omits Deckard's voiceover narration and removes the "happy ending" finale. It adds the famously-controversial "unicorn" sequence, a vision that Deckard has which suggests that he, too, may be a replicant.
Disc Four
BONUS DISC - "Enhancement Archive"

Disc Five
WORKPRINT VERSION: This rare version of the film is considered by some to be the most radically different of all the Blade Runner cuts. It includes an altered opening scene, no Deckard narration until the final scenes, no "unicorn" sequence, no Deckard/Rachel "happy ending," altered lines between Batty (Rutger Hauer) and his creator Tyrell (Joe Turkell), alternate music and much more.
Also includes:
• Commentary by Paul M. Sammon, author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner
• Featurette All Our Variant Futures: From Workprint to Final Cut
What is there to say? Sounds like perfection to me. As far as I know the Ultimate Collectors Edition will also include a lenticular motion film clip from the original feature, a miniature origami unicorn figurine, a miniature replica spinner car, collector's photographs and a signed personal letter from Sir Ridley Scott!!! It will be released on December 18 2007.

Had a couple of drinks at Robins and Johans place yesterday. We listened to some old Gren Velvet tunes and to Gary Numans Living Ornaments 79 and 80. Excellent stuff.

Section 25 is one of my favourite bands from Factory Records. The song - Looking from a Hilltop - was released in 1984.

it's time for the good times...
Since I don't like Vogue I'll play this ultra old Madonna tune instead - Holiday. The year was 1983. Remember that we need a holiday!
