Echo & The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
The Church - Under the Milky Way
Two great pop songs from the 80's. The Killing Moon from 1984 by Echo & the Bunnymen and The Church's Under the Killing Moon from 1988. They were both used in Richard Kelly's brilliant movie Donnie Darko.
"Dear Roberta Sparrow, I have reached the end of your book and... there are so many things that I need to ask you. Sometimes I'm afraid of what you might tell me. Sometimes I'm afraid that you'll tell me that this is not a work of fiction. I can only hope that the answers will come to me in my sleep. I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to."

lene lovich vs siouxsie sioux
lene lovich - bird song
In the late seventies Lene Lovich was actually pretty big. I loved her first album but this single - Bird Song - is from her second album Flex which was released in 1979. I'm not really sure when this video was released - if it's from 1979 it's absolutely fabulous. If it's from the early eighties then it's just brilliant. She looks and sounds fantastic anyway!
(Seems like the video is from 1980 so it's pretty damn awesome compared to most of the videos from that time.)
the creatures - right now
The Creatures was a side project for Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie. If you were a part of the late punk and early goth movement you know the impact Siouxsie had. There must have been at least 5 Siouxsie wannabes/look-alikes in Falun where I spent my teens and that's a lot considering how few goths there were in Falun back then. Right Now is their first single and it was released in 1983. I love this song. It was such a great contrast to the kind of music that the Siouxsie & the Banshees made at the time. It's kind of related to The Cures The Lovecats which also was released in 1983. Happy songs made by goth royalties.
(This post was first published in February this year but the video links were removed.)

dexter - resistance is futile
I'm just repeating myself. Dexter is great. Do yourself a favour and watch it. What will happen with Doakes? And Dexter? Can they make peace? Maybe frame that annoying and insane British girl Lila for the murders? What about that? I sure would like that. Dexter without Doakes would be a bit less great. Can't the next episode be here now? The end of Resistance is Futile was too exciting. Need to know what happens.

dexter - morning comes
Ouch! This was almost too much. More things happens in this Dexter episode than usually happens during three or four episodes in most other TV dramas. Everyone seems to be trying to mess Dexters life up right now. Doakes is back and he's not the forgiving type. The police is on Dexters trail and Rita, Lila and Debra all do their best to f**k with his mind. One of the ladies choose to take it a bit further than so. That's a bit too far for Dexters liking. A great episode. One of the best so far. How will they end this??

dexter - that night, a forest grew
Dexter is in really good shape right now. The perfect blend of relationship drama, Miami Vice and Seven. Lila is still a total enigma. Is she just plain crazy or does she have some darker secrets hidden in her past. Maybe she has more in common with Dexter than he thinks. The same goes for Sgt. Doakes. He finally lost his cool and was temporarily, I'm sure, outwitted by Dexter. We know that both are capable killers. I'm sure Doakes thinks that he's just doing his duty. But is that really true? Will they make peace or will only one of them survive this season? That's one of many big questions right now.

burial - untrue
archangel (audio only)
raver (audio only)
Burials new album Untrue has been out for a week now. It wouldn't surprise me if this, his second album, will become as important for dubstep as Goldies Timeless album was for drum & bass. Untrue is a dark slow paced album. Waves of bass moves on together with minimalistic rythm patterns. Short warped R'n'B samples gives it all a feeling of loneliness and longing. They sound like echoes of distant prayers or mantras. I've tried the album on the commuter and it gave the ride a surreal dream like quality. I wasn't really sure if I was awake or asleep. This is my favourite album so far this year. Pure beauty.

californication - the last waltz
This was a great season finale of Californication. I've really liked this series eventhough it had some weak episodes in the middle. But who cares - the first three or four episodes were fantastic and so were the last three. Seven out of twelve isn't that bad. I will miss Hank, Charlie, Karen, Marci, Dani and of course Mia. I hope I'll see Madeline Zima in other parts as good as the one she had in this show. She's been totally excellent! I never thought that when she played Grace Sheffield in The Nanny. And I never thought I would enjoy David Duchovnys acting again after the X-files. Fox became such a predictable and boring character. Hank's life has been so much more fun to look at! I'm looking forward to season two. But where will they take the story now? It felt like it really was the last waltz.

dexter - the dark defender
After a couple of good but kind of fumbling episodes the team behind Dexter have found the right track again. The Dark Defender was a brilliant episode and once again we revisit Dexters extremely dark and brutal past. I'm not sure I find Dexters relation with Rita interesting anymore. I wonder if the writers feels just the same? They seem to have fell in love with Jaime Murrays character Lila. And I totally agree - she's pretty damn cool - and poor Rita is boooring. What will Dexter do? I need a new episode now!

familjen
det snurrar i min skalle

Swedish Familjen (The Family) has only one member and his name is Johan Karlsson. His blend of house/synthpop isn't that common in Sweden, unfortunately, because I like it.
