Shimotsuma Monogatari a.k.a. Kamikaze Girls is one of the best movies I've seen recently. It's a spectacular comedy based on a novel by Novala Takemoto and directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. It's the weird and beautiful story about the friendship between two young girls, the Lolita fashion addict and huge admirer of the French Rococo style Momoko and the rude biker girl Ichigo. They live in the small rural city Shimotsuma, a town mostly known for its cabbage. The beautiful photography and the great soundtrack by Yoko Kanno just adds to the overall greatness of this movie. This is just one more evidence of how far ahead the asian movie industry is right now (even though you can see influences from the french director Jean-Pierre Jeunet). If you like funny and original movies you should definitely watch this one. Have fun and go berserk!

the great ape project
What does Richard Dawkins, Peter Singer and Jane Goodall have in common? Well, they all support the Great Ape Project. You should do that too. So what does the Great Ape Project do? They are advocates of Great Ape personhood and they consider common chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans (the hominid apes) to be persons. Because of that they seek legal recognition of this status. Make King Kong a secure and happy primate - Sign up immediately!

airplane III
One more favourite theme - exhaust fumes from an airplane. Malte also likes them a lot so I dedicate this picture to him.
winter reruns
It's one more same same but different picture of the winter landscape outside the family farm. Reruns rules!
east side
Night clubs in Fiskis are a bit like the immortals in Highlander - there can only be one. All others have to die. Bye bye Salvan. Long live East Side.
fiskis nights
Another dark cold winter night in Fiskis. It almost looks like a small mining town in northern Sweden. Nice.

the gordon gekko award 2005
The Gordon Gekko Award 2005 goes to Stena Fastigheters own Mr Greed - Dan Sten Olsson. He makes 1948 € in pure profit on my crappy ghetto appartment each year. Greed is Good - my ass! What about all that bullshit about private enterprise and competition making everything better and cheaper? It hasn't happened here - more expensive and without any service is more like it. Dan Sten Olsson - I want at least a 1000 of those 1948 € back!!!

cool dude malte
Cool dude Malte came by Fiskis today together with Andreas, Johanna and Stina. He had a really close look at my appartment before he and the others left.
the greatest gift a nerd can get
Look at this! I got it from my brother, Johanna and my sister - my very own dinosaur excavation kit! I've used the chisel, the steel hammer, the pick and the brush to uncover a small part of the Tyrannosaurus skull. Pretty damn good work I must say. I'm almost a professional paleontologist now!
the men who stare at goats
The Men Who Stare at Goats is a great, funny and very frightening book. It reminds me a bit of both the work of Hunter S. Thompson and the Illuminatus! Trilogy. The journalist Jon Ronson takes a close look at Jim Channon, Uri Geller and many others who were involved in the secret New Age projects within the US Army called the First Earth Battalion and Project Jedi. It's just as crazy as it sounds. In 1979 a secret unit was established by the most gifted minds within the US Army. Defying both military practice and the laws of physics, they believed a soldier could become invisible, pass through walls and, perhaps most chillingly, kill goats just by staring at them. Ronson has traced the evolution of these bizarre activities over the past three decades. It seems like the ideas behind the First Earth Battalion and Project Jedi are still being used by the army but in a very twisted way. As one of the interviewed persons say - it's the dark side of the force that is being used in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and the global war on terrorism. Why are they blasting Iraqi prisoners-of-war with the theme tune of Barney the Purple Dinosaur and songs from Sesame Street? This fantastic book actually tries to give you an answer. It also tells the dark stories of Frank Olsen, the Heavens Gate and the siege at Waco. Everything is connected - the truth is out there!

and now, the end is near...
...And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.
I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Six in the morning - home at last... Thank god it's a year to the next new year! Thanx Morgan, Mariana, Rita, Maria and Fia for another spectacular New Years Eve! I had a really great time and today I feel the way I deserve...
(Lyrics from "My Way" by Claude François, Jacques Revaux and Paul Anka)
it's too late
I believe the photographer told us to look like the middle aged grown up men we are. But I don't think it worked...
morgans balcony
Ignoring all better sense I continue the party. Weird drinks in plastic cups... It hurts... We are pissed drunk in a snow storm... please kill me... hahahaha
point of no return
This is the point of no return... I've stumbled through a snow storm... Missed the last bus home... It's three in the morning and I'm back at Morgans and Marianas place. The light was whispering something in my ear... "Go home and sleep Johan... Go home..." But I couldn't and I didn't. That's why my body and soul hates me today. I feel like shit and I smell and I have this horrible taste of cheap rum and old cigar in my mouth.
beginning of the end
I think this is the beginning of the end. Morgan gave me this really huge and old cigar that we all smoke. I can still taste it in my mouth... It's pretty disgusting... I started to tell that old boring "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" joke. One time is one too many and I think I told it nine or ten times... Fia, Maria, Rita - I'm sorry! Why didn't you put me in a cab?
happy new year!
It's midnight and a new year again. I think Fia and Maria agrees with me that we all deserve a really great 2006.
ritas party
Okay... time for party number two. Rita had a really good thing going on at Hornstull. So I went there.
starman
André with a lot of stars in his face.
There’s a starman waiting in the sky
He’d like to come and meet us
But he thinks he’d blow our minds
There’s a starman waiting in the sky
He’s told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it’s all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
David Bowie - Starman
new years eve 2005
Shit... New Years Eve again... Didn't we celebrate the last new year a couple of weeks ago? This year I started my road to ruin at Morgans and Marianas place close to Mosebacke.
